EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers have slain the Vegas Golden Knights.

With a dominant 5-1 win they have won their season series against the Golden Knights 2-1. Despite getting out-hit 49-35, the Oilers out-shot (25-18) and outscored their Pacific Division opponents.
Dylan Holloway and Mattias Ekholm both had an incredible game for the team. Ekholm scored one goal on four shots and 17:57 of ice time (the second fewest amongst Oilers defensemen on the night). Holloway - fresh off of a recall from the Bakersfield Condors - had a goal, two shots and three hits.
Holloway was named the third star of the game with his performance. As he made his way into the locker room, he was greeted by a familiar face.
Holloway had just finished a quick segment and then went into the dressing room. He was greeted by Troy Stecher, Derek Ryan and McDavid. They all fist-bumped him - except McDavid. He gave an enthusiastic fist bump and then some extra "atta-boy" pats, almost pushing Holloway towards the locker room stalls.

After the win, Kris Knoblauch gave an update on McDavid. He told the media that he is still considered "day-to-day". The Oilers play both Friday and Saturday at home - and I imagine McDavid will play at least one of those two games.
It's certainly the sign of a great captain to be cheering on your teammates - and congratulating them on great performances. Little gestures like this go a long, long way. It might not be surprising to see him at Rogers Place, but it's surprising to see him congratulate a teammate in shorts and a hoodie.
