EDMONTON -- It's not every day someone breaks a Paul Coffey record.

That is, if your name isn't Evan Bouchard.
The Edmonton Oilers defenseman has been on a tear this postseason. His regular season success has carried over to the tune of 32 points in 23 games. Bouchard hasn't been afraid to be physical when the situation calls for it. He has the same amount of hits as his partner Mattias Ekholm, with 26.
The most impressive thing about his playoff performance has been his assist total. Bouchard has now passed Coffey's record for most assists in a playoff run.
The previous record was 25 assists, established in 1985. Bouchard's third assist during Tuesday night's game pushed him over the hump. Now he'll have another record in his sights that he could knock down before it's all said and done.
Bouchard needs six more points to break Coffey's point record for a defenseman during a playoff year. He's also two shy of tying for second all-time, a spot taken up by Brian Leetch's recording of 34 points in the 1994 playoffs.
Bouchard has been a revelation on the Oilers back end. The threat of his shot from the point has been stirring the drink of the Oilers' power play.

Just like Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid - when the chips are down Bouchard elevates his game.
