The Edmonton Oilers will ride into Rogers Arena on a seven day break - eager to ramp things up tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. This is the last remaining second round series to finally play their first game.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs already eliminated - it's the only all-Canadian matchup that the playoffs will feature this post season. This is poised to be an excellent series propelled by two fantastic teams.
Earlier today a number of players and both head coaches met with the media present in Vancouver to set the stage for the highly-anticipated game. Rick Tocchet spent some time speaking with the press and had a few interesting tidbits to share.
When asked about things that the Canucks need to be aware of with the Oilers - Tocchet highlighted what he believes to be the least talked about strength of the team, "not to build them up too much because they are a hell of a team - they are one of the better teams at taking the puck to the net."
"Everybody talks about 'star power' - net front for them, offensively, I think they are one of the best teams. They have a lot of guys that hang around the net and go to the net."
Tocchet highlighted Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman and Corey Perry specifically - as players on the Oilers team who really drive play towards the net.
Compliments or not - these two teams will play tonight to see who draws first blood in the best-of-seven series.
