The former Edmonton Oilers forward scored his first goal of the year in commanding fashion.
The Edmonton Oilers are sitting pretty today with their 23-15-1 record on the season. They have done themselves tremendous favors by stringing together two impressive winning streaks in close succession - one of those they are presently still experiencing.
To get to this point the management needed to make some tough decisions. Those choices primarily being trading certain players away in order to remain below the salary cap ceiling.

One of those deals came back at the trade deadline. Jesse Puljujarvi was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes for prospect forward Patrik Puistola. After finishing his season with the Hurricanes he was tendered a qualifying offer by them and became a free agent.
This past summer he had to receive surgery on both hips. Most recently, he agreed to a free agent tryout with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
That translated into an AHL tryout and getting sent to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He has played five games so far - and in today's contest - he scored his first goal of the season.
This is exactly the kind of goal that is great to see from Puljujarvi. After his intense summer and injury rehab, it's good to see him finding his groove. Even if it's not yet at the NHL level.
