EDMONTON -- Not every defender works out long term.

The Edmonton Oilers have had their fair share of defenders waltz on through their dressing room. Some of them worked well on a short term basis - but ran their course with the team.

Jeff Perry, Justin Schultz, Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear are all defensemen that have spent time with the Oilers - but ultimately went elsewhere for one reason or another.

Another such player - who presently finds themselves on a playoff team - is Tyson Barrie. Unfortunately for Barrie, things haven't been going well this season with the Nashville Predators - at least for him.

The team is obviously doing fantastic, as they just won game two of their opening playoff series against the Vancouver Canucks. But Barrie himself is going through a streak that no player wants to have happen to them.

Including the end of the regular season, Barrie has been a healthy scratch for 11 straight games - including last night.

These weren't the only games he was a healthy scratch for - and that must have messed with his confidence. Barrie has only played in 41 games this past regular season where he collected 15 points. That's the lowest points per game total of his career - 0.37. Even in his rookie season where he played 32 games he still averaged 0.41 points per game.

Not every player is a fit on every team, and this is a prime example of that. While Barrie has been on teams that have been able to feature him in a power play role - he hasn't enjoyed the same level of success with the Predators.
