EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid is in the business of breaking records.

The Edmonton Oilers captain is always trying to do what he can to help his team win. If he breaks a record in the process, that's just icing on the cake.

He was like that during the regular season. Whenever his pursuit of 100 assists came up, he stayed mum. He's a humble person - who's only in the spotlight because it's thrust upon him. McDavid has adapted well to being the center of attention, particularly this year. He's displayed more of his personality, and fans love him more for it.

There is another thing that Oilers' fans believe McDavid can do - win the Oilers their first Stanley Cup in over 30 years.

The Oilers are only two wins away from making it to the Stanley Cup Final. If they did, it would be the first time since 2006 that it has happened.

As per usual, McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been dominating the playoff scoring race. They presently sit at first and second overall respectively.

McDavid has 24 assists in 16 games this post season. He only needs seven more to tie Wayne Gretzky's record of 31.

He's averaging 1.5 assists per game. By that math he would need to play five more games to break Gretzky's record. That is more than doable for McDavid.

It's only a matter of time.

Do you think McDavid will break Gretzky's record? Let me know your thoughts.
