Oilers Can Tie Franchise Record Tonight

Edmonton Oilers have an opportunity to tie a record that was set by the 2006 Stanley Cup Final version of the team.

EDMONTON -- This series is far from over.

The Edmonton Oilers know it, and the Florida Panthers know it. They may have lost the battle of Game one, but they are hell-bent on winning the war.

Sergei Bobrovsky was the story of Game one and the Oilers are looking to rewrite the narrative.

Looking at the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, that's exactly what they have done.

There are a few stats to be aware of concerning the Oilers in the playoffs. The last three times that they have gone down 1-0 in a series, they tie the series in Game two.

The Oilers also own a record of 5-1 after a loss during the 2024 playoffs.

This has them tied for second most wins following a loss in the playoffs in team history. The franchise record is six wins, which was set during the team's last Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2006. The 2006 team had a 6-2 record following losses.

The Oilers have been the king of the comeback this year. They came back from a 3-9-1 record (and 31st overall in the standings) to becoming the best team in the league after their coaching change.

They were down 3-2 in their series against the Vancouver Canucks, and won in seven games. The Oilers have what it takes to push this series. Whether they can find that tonight remains to be seen.
