A hardcore Edmonton Oilers fan noticed a concerning trend and decided to take action.

EDMONTON -- Playoff hockey is serious hockey.

Although the Edmonton Oilers are only two games deep into their series with the Los Angeles Kings - every game has a heightened importance over the games played in the regular season.
Brett Kissel performed the American National anthem before the beginning of Game two. He received a warm welcome from the crowd at Rogers Place, but other fans had different reactions.
Yesterday Jenna Winterburn - a Virgin Radio Host - launched a petition to "Stop Brett Kissel's Performances at Oilers Playoff Games." At first glance this might come across as petty, but she backs up her opinion.
Part of the petition reads, "As a die-hard fan of the Edmonton Oilers, I am deeply concerned about the team's losing streak that seems to coincide with Brett Kissel performing the American national anthem at these games. Since he started his performances, our beloved Oilers have not won a single playoff game. While correlation does not necessarily imply causation, this pattern is disconcerting for many fans like myself who are desperate to see our team [Oilers] win."

Winterburn is asking for 2500 signatures for her petition - which presently has 1819 signatures and counting. However, there was a slight twist in this story that very few people saw coming.
Kissel himself has supposedly signed this petition, and had a response to it's creation:
While this is certainly one way to react to a petition made against yourself - it's nice to see him have a bit of a sense of humor about it. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how large this petition grows and if it has any effect on whether or not Mr. Kissel is invited back to Rogers Place to sing in the near future.
