Edmonton Oilers fans did their part against the Los Angeles Kings last night.

EDMONTON -- There is a reason Canadian markets are great for hockey teams.

Edmonton Oilers players are always talking about the passionate fan base that they play for. In several pre-game interviews yesterday the players expressed their excitement to play in front of Oilers fans at Rogers Place.

It certainly led to a lot of memorable moments.

Throughout the game Los Angeles Kings goalie Cam Talbot bore the brunt of a lot of "Tal-bot" chants. They would even cheer when he would make a save after having a goal go past him minutes earlier.

It's expected behavior on behalf of the Oilers fans. They will equally egg an opposing player on - regardless of if they have played for the Oilers before or not.

One of the most inspiring moments with the fans came before the puck even dropped. Yours truly was at the game last night - and I shared a video I recorded of the Canadian National anthem.

Oilers anthem singer Rob Clark sang both the American and Canadian anthems - but the crowd took things up a notch with the hometown anthem. After the crowd was singing alongside Clark for the first part of the anthem, he allowed them to take over in a memorable moment.

The energy at Rogers Place last night was off the charts - it's no wonder why the players love playing in the building when it's playoff time.

This kind of energy can swing momentum into the home team's favor. Which is something that can only help the team win more games.

The next time that fans at Rogers Place can exercise their vocal chords is tomorrow night - when Game Two starts at 8:00 PM mountain time.
