EDMONTON – There is always momentum.

The Oilers shouldn’t have won Game 4. Luckily, Corey Perry spoke up and gave the rest of his teammates the splash of cold water they needed to wake up and play better.

Now, the Oilers turn to arguably the most clutch goaltender of this year’s playoffs, Calvin Pickard.

The performance of Pickard throughout the playoffs has given them a clear advantage over the Panthers. Here’s why – he makes big saves in big moments.

Pickard Is At The Top Of The Goalie Pile

Looking at just save percentage, Pickard has been elite in the playoffs. He has the second-best save percentage in the third period (.915) and the best when his team is trailing (.921).

But, the most impressive stat (save percentage-wise, at least) is his top-ranked inner slot save percentage (.837). When everyone is in Pickard’s kitchen, causing a ruckus and wreaking havoc in front of him, he’s been steady.

That’s the kind of goaltending that the Oilers need right now – and it’s precisely what they are getting.
