Why Oilers Want Pickard In Net Over Skinner
EDMONTON – If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
Evan Bouchard is a high-event player. So, you either notice him in a good way or in an awful way. Both statements were true for Sunday night.
He was at fault for two of the three goals scored against the Oilers. However, Bouchard scored two goals during the contest. On the second goal, he was able to keep the puck in the offensive zone several seconds before ripping the biscuit past Darcy Kuemper.
Bouchard also made some good defensive plays in the extra frame when the Oilers were pushing hard. Similarly to last game, he needs to transition the puck out of the defensive zone quicker and without unforced errors.
Calvin Pickard started his second consecutive game of the 2025 playoffs. This performance was a lot better than Game 3.
Instead of giving up multiple mid-range goals, there is only one that made it’s way past him that he probably wants back. Otherwise, it was a very solid night for him.
Pickard finished the game, stopping 38 of 41 shots, giving him a .927 save percentage. He’s now 2-0-0 in the playoffs with a 3.29 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.
What can be said about Corey Perry that hasn’t already been said?
The veteran forward demonstrated why the Oilers re-signed him in the offseason with a strong performance on Sunday night. Perry got the powerplay (and the Oilers) going with their first goal of the game in the second period.
'What The F---?': Oilers Corey Perry On Danault's 'B Squad' Comments
EDMONTON – “I think they have their B Squad in, just trying to hurt us.”
His impressive hand-eye coordination was on full display as he batted the puck twice, while in the air, depositing it past Kuemper. He was all over the ice in the best way, and his legs were moving as fast as I’ve ever seen him skate while dressed for the Oilers.
The Oilers will travel to LA for Game 5 on Tuesday, April 29th, looking to steal another win from the Kings.
