This is good and bad news. It’s good because the Oilers know what to expect from their bitter division rival. It’s bad, because they don’t want that familiarity to breed complacency.

EDMONTON – It takes a team to win.
With the health of the team being such a big conversation over the course of the final stretch of the regular season, it’s important to note that Monday night’s lineup will be an (almost) healthy one.
The Oilers didn’t practice on Monday morning, but based off the last practice and head coach Kris Knoblauch’s comments this morning, here’s what the lineup likely looks like.
Connor McDavid is one of the most dangerous players in the league. He has been playing a lot with Connor Brown, so having him on McDavid’s wing makes sense. Seeing Zach Hyman on the other wing also makes sense. It seems like Knoblauch wants to throw Hyman in the deep end so he gets his legs up to speed quickly.
Leon Draisaitl will make his return to the lineup with Vasily Podkolzin and Viktor Arvidsson as his wingers. This trio was a popular one over the course of the season. Draisaitl loves playing with both of these players, so this combination shouldn’t shock anyone.

EDMONTON – “It’s pretty much impossible to shut them down one-on-one.”
Jeff Skinner getting knocked off of McDavid’s line after ending the season on a good note is concerning. However, the Oilers have a deep team, and this line of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Kasperi Kapanen, and Skinner is further proof of that.
With Trent Frederic being a game-time decision, it’s likely he slots in for Kapanen if he is playing on Monday night.
The trio of Mattias Janmark, Adam Henrique, and Corey Perry is one that Oilers fans shouldn’t sleep on. There is a ton of experience, speed, skill, and tenacity on this line that could become an identity line for the team.

EDMONTON – “I think they have their B Squad in, just trying to hurt us.”
-Brett Kulak is travelling back to California after attending the birth of his daughter earlier on Monday.
-Stuart Skinner is the Starting goalie.
-Frederic is a game-time decision (he talked like someone ready to play).
-Jake Walman will play while John Klingberg will not.
-The 6th D tonight will be either Josh Brown or Cam Dineen.
Nurse-Bouchard
Walman - Emberson
Kulak - Brown
Brown will likely get the nod, as his physical style plays well into a matchup against the rugged Kings. We will get a better sense of pairings once the team has its warmup skate before tonight’s game.
