The Edmonton Oilers have fought off elimination for at least one more game. They defeated the Florida Panthers with one of the most lopsided victories in recent memory.
The Oilers put the pedal to the metal from the opening puck drop and didn't let up till they played La Bamba.

The 8-1 victory officially became one of the biggest blowout victories in the history of the Stanley Cup Final. The seven goal disparity has only been surpassed by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991. They defeated the Minnesota North Stars 8-0 in Game six of that series.
Last night's game also set a record for a team facing elimination in a Stanley Cup Final.
According to the Sportsnet Stats Twitter account, the previous record was held by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 1942 Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings by a 9-3 score in Game five.
The Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup that year.

Every remaining game is a must win for the Oilers. It's time to see what they are made of. It's time to see if they can keep this ball rolling into Florida.
Don't say die yet.
