Bakersfield Condors have an important player returning from injury.

Bakersfield Condors have an important player returning from injury.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers play next on Saturday March 2nd on the road against the Seattle Kraken. With one week to go until the trade deadline on March 8th - every move the Oilers make will be scrutinized and dissected to death.

There is much speculation as to what the Oilers will add by the time next Friday rolls around. Many names have come up - Jake Guentzel, Pavel Buchnevich, Tyler Toffoli and Jordan Eberle.

No matter who the Oilers end up acquiring there is a substantial probability that Philip Broberg becomes part of that deal - at least for a player to come back to Edmonton who has more than this year left on their contract.

That makes the news of Broberg returning to practice for the Bakersfield Condors that much more important.

Ryan Holt posted a video (seen in tweet above) of Broberg participating in an individual skating drill. He has rejoined the team and could be ready to return to game action as early as Monday or Wednesday next week.

Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reported last Thursday that the expected timeline for Broberg's return to game action was 2-3 weeks.

This is fortunate timing for the Oilers. As talks escalate leading to Friday's deadline, don't be surprised to hear chatter of NHL scouts at Condors games. With Broberg being the top prospect in the team's system, his name is sure to pop up many times between now and then.
