The Edmonton Oilers top defense prospect will need more time to recover.
EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers are inching closer to the March 8 trade deadline. With the pressure turned up in Alberta's Capital, many eyes are focusing on what moves the Oilers will make to increase their playoff success.

Their priorities appear to be up in the air - most pundits suggest that they need to focus on acquiring forward depth while others suggest an upgrade on defense (or in net).
One thing they will need to make any impactful moves are assets of value - and perhaps their biggest asset, will return to the line up a bit later than first expected.
Philip Broberg has missed the last five games for the Oilers AHL affiliate - the Bakersfield Condors. Earlier today Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic tweeted out that Broberg has been in Edmonton over the past few days undergoing evaluation.
Reportedly he is in considerable pain from a deep bruise. The estimated recovery time (according to Nugent-Bowman) is two to three weeks.
It was reported earlier this week that the Oilers will not trade away Broberg for a rental. Obviously any trading partner that acquires the young blueliner will need to be assured of his long-term health. Because the injury is only a deep bruise, that should be a non-issue.
Time will tell if prospective buyers feel the same way.
