EDMONTON -- Adam Henrique has played five games for the Edmonton Oilers since being traded.

Although he hasn't added to the scoreboard very much (only one assist) - he's already becoming a fan favourite. He is incredibly well-spoken and gives thoughtful answers in media availabilities.

This has extended into the post game coverage for the Oilers game against the Colorado Avalanche last night. Henrique and Evan Bouchard were guests on After Hours.

Scott Oake and Louie DeBrusk spend some time talking to the new Oilers forward about his upbringing and what it's like to get traded to a contending team like the Oilers.

The conversation started with Henrique revealing where he was when he was traded, "we had a game that night - which is always odd on trade deadline day - I knew I wasn't playing [in the game] at the time."

"The only thing I knew - a trade was coming in the next day or two."

"We (Henrique and Sam Carrick) actually found out in a team meeting. But it is a hard time"

Henrique knew that he was very likely to be traded at this deadline. He saw the writing on the wall - he's an older veteran on an expiring deal. But that preparation doesn't stop him from being human, "you know what, it's hard. I always get a little emotional talking about family. We prepared as best as we could as a family. We knew the trade was coming and we were waiting on the news."

"Until it happens, you're not really sure how you're going to handle it."

He goes on to talk about the support his family has gotten with his young children (the youngest is under a month old) through this whole process, "luckily we have a lot of great help at home, a lot of family support. But sure do miss the girls."

"Now we have facetime and we're able to stay in touch every day and see them and be able to see them grow still. So still pretty special."

It's evident that Henrique has a strong bond with his family - and a very endearing (and vulnerable) moment to have on national television.
