Edmonton Oilers defender Vincent Desharnais saved what was definitely going to be a goal.
EDMONTON -- Game five was a doozy.

The Edmonton Oilers were on the road - playing the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver. It was a back and forth game all night - particularly for large parts of the second and third periods.
Evander Kane and Mattias Janmark were the goal scorers for the Oilers while Carson Soucy announced his return to the Canucks with a goal. Not too long before Soucy's goal, the Canucks could have put another puck past Calvin Pickard.
On the tail end of the of their penalty kill, Vincent Desharnais came up with an incredible play.
As you can see from the clip - the puck trickles past Pickard, and then Desharnais comes in with a one-handed scoop. He bats the puck away, just as it is getting to the goal line.
This isn't the first time Desharnais has saved a goal - or sacrificed his body for the sake of great defense.
It's too bad that the Canucks scored a minute or two later - because that save tipped the momentum back in the Oilers favor.

Ultimately, the Canucks won the game 3-2. And now the Oilers stand on the brink of elimination - and must win on Saturday night to keep their playoff dreams alive.
