EDMONTON -- The opening of Free Agency Frenzy was a busy one.

Under Jeff Jackson's direct supervision the Edmonton Oilers had a monster day. By the time the sun had set they had signed or re-signed 13 players.

Jackson made good on his goal to "run it back" with two exceptions, Vincent Desharnais and Warren Foegele. Both players left for divisional rivals. Desharnais departed for the Vancouver Canucks while Foegele left for the Los Angeles Kings.

Foegele agreed to a three-year $3.5-million cap hit contract. He is coming off of a career season that saw him set highs in goals (20), assists (21), points (41) and shots (201). His previous deal was a three-year $2.75-million cap hit.

Foegele's new contract comes with a 10-team no trade list in the first year. For years two and three it changes to a five-team no trade list.

From his exit interview you could tell that Foegele wanted to stay in Edmonton. He was good friends with several players. His locker room stall was right beside Connor McDavid.

The Oilers need to make another move or two. They might be done adding via free agency, but one has to think a trade is in the works. They are presently over the salary cap right now, but have until closer to the beginning of the regular season to be compliant.

There is plenty of time for the Oilers to make another move.
