Corey Perry spoke to the media about the incredible game that the Edmonton Oilers captain had on Tuesday night.

EDMONTON -- Corey Perry knows what it takes to win.

The Edmonton Oilers forward has won the Stanley Cup, but has also made it to the Stanley Cup Final several times after. He is a grizzled veteran who knows his place, accepts his role, and does what is best for the team.

Last night he chipped in with his first goal of the playoffs. He scored off of a brilliant individual effort from the captain, Connor McDavid.

Perry spoke to the media in Florida after the game. When reflecting on the night that McDavid had, Perry said this about the captain, "that's why he's the best player in the world. He knows when to turn it on. He had a heck of a game, that's why he leads us - he leads by example."

In a light hearted moment he described the assist on his goal, "I watched him go through three guys and pass it to me. I didn't even yell for it, he just saw me go for the net."

"That's just the type of player he is."

Perry reflected on what McDavid has done for the Oilers over the last couple games while facing elimination, "he puts his team on his back. When we're against the wall, he puts us on his back. You see why he is the best player."

What the hockey world is witnessing right now with McDavid is extremely special. There is no other player in the game that is doing what he is right now.
