Streaming Options
(ranked by matchup)
Calvin Pickard, EDM at OTT (17% rostered)
Pickard came in relief for Stuart Skinner in a 6-3 loss to the Leafs last night, which makes me believe that the Oilers will at least have a discussion about start Skinner against the Sens. Pickard didn't see much action, stopping all five shots he faced in the third period.
This isn't exactly a must-win game for the Oilers, but the Kings coming on strong, I think the Oilers have to think about securing home-ice advantage in Round 1. The division title would be the best-case scenario, but it may be out of reach. I don't see a big difference in the outcome if the Oilers start Pickard or Skinner in this matchup but, obviously, Pickard would a great streaming option if he starts.
Jonas Johansson, TB at ANA (11% rostered)
What gives me the most pause about this stream is that Johansson has played very sparingly. He last started Feb. 25 against the Devils, where he faced just 19 shots, and lost his prior start allowing six goals on 24 shots. This should really not be a tough game at all for the Lightning, even though they're playing back-to-back and the Ducks have had a two-day break. It would be a fairly big upset if the Lightning lost.
Anthony Stolarz, FLA at PHI (21% rostered)
The Flyers will certainly put up a fight but I think their ability to keep this game close might be hampered by having Felix Sandström in net. Stolarz will be going for his sixth straight win even though the Panthers have lost four straight. The problem was providing goal support -- they were shut out twice -- but they looked pretty sharp against the Rangers yesterday. I think Stolarz can win and post a good save percentage.
Cayden Primeau, MTL at SEA (3% rostered)
The Habs will try to snap a four-game losing streak as they wrap up their four-game road trip through the west. Usually, the road team that's lost all of their road games will try to end it up on a good note before going home, so I expect the Habs to come out strong, and note the Kraken are on a seven-game losing streak.
I don't mind streaming Primeau in this matchup if you desperately need one, but it's hard to pinpoint how Primeau will do because his performances can be erratic. I don't suspect the Kraken will score many goals because they don't have the offensive firepower to do it, but I think this is a coin-flip matchup and the Habs have scoring woes of their own. You're hoping for a low-scoring game with Primeau providing saves and a good save percentage with a win as they added bonus.
Dustin Wolf, CGY vs. BUF (9% rostered)
Look for Wolf to be the backup for the rest of the season with Dan Vladar undergoing season-ending surgery. As the Flames are still in the playoff race, Jacob Markström will likely get the bulk of the starts. Even though Wolf is highly touted, like any young goalie, he will likely experience his fair share of ups and downs.
I'm wary of this matchup after a tough game in Vancouver last night and then flying back and hosting the Sabres. There's a chance Wolf keeps the Flames in this game, but he'll be a risky streaming option every night because the Flames don't have as much depth as they did at the beginning of the season and their offense has ranged from mediocre to average all season.
Joseph Woll, TOR at CAR (50% rostered)
Martin Jones relieved Ilya Samsonov last night but Woll is confirmed to start, and was reportedly already in Carolina during Saturday's game. (Presumably, this is so Woll doesn't have to have late travel and will be fresh for a back-to-back). However, the Canes look really good, and this will be a tough game for the Leafs to win. I'm not confident Woll will be able to post good numbers in this matchup and there's plenty of other options available for a busy Sunday.
Kaapo Kähkönen, NJ at NYI (5% rostered)
Kähkönen likely gets the start and he hasn't been appreciatively better with the Devils, unlike Jake Allen, who started Saturday. Kähkönen has a 3.81 GAA with the Devils, matching his number with the Sharks, but a lower save percentage at .875. The Isles have stumbled lately but I think they have enough offensive players to make this a worrisome matchup.
