Leo Carlsson and Logan Cooley, dynamic forwards on good teams, demand immediate fantasy consideration with red-hot play.
On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy hockey managers to stream, roster or utilize in standard leagues and/or DFS games. Players and goalies highlighted for streaming in standard leagues are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues.
Leo Carlsson, C, ANA vs. WPG (68% rostered) - FanDuel $7,000
Sure, the Ducks went into a major slump at the end of last year, but they’ve started to pick it up again and it starts with Carlsson, who scored three points in his return. He’s averaging over a point per game and while he doesn’t quite fit the criteria for players who are rostered in under 50 percent of Yahoo leagues, it’s worth noting that at 68 percent rostered he’s still under-rostered. Carlsson deserves a spot in your lineup in any format as the top center of a formidable offense.
Logan Cooley, C, UTA vs. MIN (67% rostered) - FanDuel $4,900
Cooley notched an assist in his first game back from injury and the Mammoth’s top pivot should definitely be picked up in all leagues. He’s their top option at center, by far, and playing with Dylan Guenther on L2. It shouldn’t be long before he replaces Barrett Hayton on PP1. The Mammoth offense is particularly good at home, ranking 10th in goals for per game, compared to 19th on the road. Cooley should be a top value play in DFS games at this salary.
Ivan Barbashev, LW, VGK at WSH (37% rostered) - FanDuel $5,200
A goal against the Kings in their first game following the break extended Barbashev’s points streak to six games. He’s been quite efficient with 17 goals on 89 shots (19 percent) in 58 games this season, and slated to skate alongside Jack Eichel.
Evan Rodrigues, C/LW/RW, FLA vs. BUF (6% rostered) - FanDuel $5,300
Rodrigues had a very strong performance against the Leafs last night, scoring a goal and an assist on nine (!) shots and five face-off wins. He centered the top line with Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe, and considering the success he’s had, it’s likely Paul Maurice keeps Rodrigues in that same spot. With multi-position eligibility and his 1C role, Rodrigues is a solid streamer and value play in DFS games.
