ST. PAUL - Tonight's player to watch for the Minnesota Wild against the Dallas Stars is goaltender Filip Gustavsson.
Gustavsson, 26, is currently coming off a game in which he stopped all 19 of the shots he faced against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. It was his seventh shutout of his career.
All seven of his shutouts have come as a member of the Wild. Gustavsson moved into a tie with Darcy Kuemper for the sixth-most shutouts in franchise history.
In 12 games this year, Gustavsson is 8-2-2 with a 2.08 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .924 save percentage (SV%). He ranks second in the NHL in GAA behind Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck and fourth in SV%.
But, Gustavsson ranks first in goals this year in the NHL amongst all goaltenders.
The 6-foot-2 goaltender from Sweden has also done very well in his career against the Stars. In four career games against Dallas, Gustavsson is 3-1-0 with a 1.73 GAA and a .950 SV%. He has made 132 saves on 139 shots. Allowing only seven goals in four games.
Minnesota is without three key players tonight. No Mats Zuccarello, Joel Eriksson Ek, or Jonas Brodin. All three are out with injuries. The Wild will definitely need Gustavsson to continue his success tonight, making him tonight's player to watch.
