The NHLPA Rookie Showcase will feature 33 first-year players.

The NHLPA will host their 14th annual rookie showcase in Arlington, VA on Sept. 4. The event's primary purpose is to "obtain photo and video of the players in their respective NHL team jerseys to be used for their first official rookie hockey cards, as well as additional promotional materials throughout the season and beyond."

Last year the Minnesota Wild had two rookies represent them at the event, Brock Faber and Jesper Wallstedt. This year it will be Wild forward Liam Ohgren.

This year's event will be hosted at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, the Washington Capitals practice facility.

Ohgren, 20, started last year in the Swedish Hockey League with Farjestad BK. He recorded 12 goals and 19 points in 26 games and played for the Iowa Wild after his season concluded in the SHL.

The Wild's 19th overall pick from the 2022 NHL Draft was Sweden's captain for the 2023 World Juniors Tournament. He had two assists in seven games. Ohgren played in three AHL games with Iowa before he was recalled to the NHL.

In four NHL games, Ohgren recorded one goal and one assist. The 6-foot-1 forward could be a big piece of the Wild's success next year as he is poised to get some top-six forward minutes next year.
