The Saginaw Spirit weren't projected to start the Memorial Cup 2-0 considering they had to play the QMJHL Champions and the WHL Champions but the Spirit beat them both on outstanding performances from Wild prospect Hunter Haight.

Haight, 20, finished the regular season with 25 goals and 67 points in 68 games for the Spirit. He has nine goals and 13 points in 17 playoff games as well.

The Spirit were down 2-0 to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in game two of the Memorial Cup but were able to mount a comeback thanks to Haight's two-goal game.

Saginaw will play the London Knights on Wednesday, May 29th, in the last game of the Memorial Cup round-robin.

Haight was the Wild's 47th overall pick during the 2022 draft and was signed by the Wild in March of 2023. He should get a good chance at making the team out of camp next season but will likely start the year in the AHL with the Iowa Wild.
