Montreal Canadiens fans can circle September 1 on their calendar. Crave will help them cope with the lack of hockey by releasing the third series of its hit show The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens.
It’s the dog days of summer, and hockey fans are starting to feel it. However, Crave came to the rescue on Tuesday when it announced that a new season of its popular documentary, The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens, would air starting September 1.
The announcement came with a short trailer that highlighted some of the season's best moments, comments from Jeff Gorton, Martin St-Louis, and a couple of journalists. Judging from the trailer, this third installment will include more postseason content, which isn’t surprising, considering the Canadiens made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Final last year.
It will be interesting to see what the organization chooses to show us from what was a rather successful season, especially regarding the trade deadline and the deal that almost was with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
As always, though, what makes this series truly special is the behind-the-scenes look it allows the fans to get. In a season that included Cole Caufield scoring 50 goals and Nick Suzuki breaking the 100-point barrier, we should be treated to a look at the celebrations behind the scenes.
How much of the goaltending struggles will they choose to show the public? Whichever way you look at it and despite how much of a success the season was, the goaltending struggles played a big part in the Canadiens’ fortunes last season, and it’s impossible to cover the 2025-26 season without spending some time on that topic. It won’t be easy, but at this stage it’s pretty much unavoidable, and it’s something the fans will be keen to know more about.
On the bright side of things, we should also get a peek at how well Ivan Demidov and Oliver Kapapnen did in their rookie season and how spectacular Jakub Dobes was in the postseason. There will be plenty to cover: the first season had eight episodes, while the second only had six, but the format for this third season hasn’t been revealed yet.
