Sometimes, this is a bad thing. Other times, like last night's New Jersey Devils, it can light a fire under a team that allows them to band together and pull out a win.

Thus, a 4-1 victory for the Devils over the Florida Panthers.

Jacob Markstrom came up big for the Devils, but according to Paul Cotter, Brenden Dillon's fight sparked the team to victory.

It was a spirited fight between the Devils' defender and Panthers' forward Jonah Gadjovich. For the first part of the fight, Dillon kept up with one-handed jabs while Gadjovich came out with guns akimbo.

Dillon is no stranger to dropping the mitts. This season alone, he has fought a league-leading three times, including last night. He is tied for the lead with Tanner Jeannot and Michael McCarron.

With a good chunk of the season left, there is a lot of runway for Dillon to smash his fighting record of seven fights. He set that record last season while playing for the Winnipeg Jets.
