The New Jersey Devils fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 by a 5-2 final score. With this, the Devils now trail the Hurricanes 3-1 in the series and must win three straight games to keep their season alive.
There is no question that the Devils are in a rough spot right now. Winning three playoff games in a row is never easy, especially when facing off against a deep team like the Hurricanes. However, 3-1 deficits can be overcome, and the Devils will look to beat the odds stacked against them from here.
Devils captain Nico Hischier shared his mindset heading into a very important Game 5 on the road. Here is what the star forward said on the matter:
"We've got to go out there, win a road game, and bring the series back here. That's all in my mind right now."
Hischier is undoubtedly correct in his statement, as a loss will end the Devils' post-season very early. If Hischier and the Devils hope to pick up a road win against the Hurricanes in Game 5, they are going to need to play a full 60 minutes and receive contributions from the entire lineup.
It will now be very fascinating to see if Hischier and the Devils can turn things around from here. A win in Game 5 would be a nice step in the right direction on that front.
