One specific area that they should look to upgrade is their bottom six, and this year's free agency class has the potential to offer some solid options.
One specific pending unrestricted free agent who the Devils should consider making a push for if he hits the market is Winnipeg Jets forward Brandon Tanev.
Tanev, 33, is well-known for his gritty style of play and high energy, so he could be a nice addition to the Devils' bottom six. Furthermore, he is also quite solid defensively, so he would be an obvious choice for the Devils' penalty kill if signed.
When looking at a specific spot in the Devils' lineup where Tanev could fit, the fourth line stands out. However, he can also move up the lineup when injuries arise due to his versatility, which undoubtedly adds to his appeal.
Tanev appeared in 79 regular-season games this season, split between the Seattle Kraken and Jets, where he had 10 goals, 22 points, 105 blocks, and 168 hits. Overall, he provides decent secondary offensive production and plenty of physicality, so he could be a nice pickup for a Devils team that needs help in their bottom six.
