The New Jersey Devils have announced that they have signed prospect Shane Lachane to a two-year entry-level contract, which will begin during the 2025-26 season. In addition, the Devils shared that Lachance will spend the rest of this season with the Utica Comets on an AHL deal.
Lachance, 21, was selected by the Edmonton Oilers with the 186th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The Devils acquired his signing rights from the Oilers back in March as a part of the three-team trade that most notably sent Trent Frederic from the Boston Bruins to Edmonton.
Lachance just completed his second collegiate season with Boston University in 2024-25. In 40 games with the school on the year, the Andover, Massachusetts native had 12 goals and set new collegiate career highs with 18 assists and 30 points. This is after the 6-foot-5 forward posted 13 goals and 27 points in 40 games with BU during his freshman season in 2023-24.
Lachance will now look to make an impact with the Comets from here.
