Here's a recap of the latest Devils' news and notes from the past week.

NEWARK, N.J. -- A busy week officially wrapped up for the New Jersey Devils. On the ice, the organization hosted its 2023 Prospects Development Camp and, off the ice, added a forward for center depth.

Let's look at the biggest headlines of the past week.

New Jersey Devils Headlines

- This week, general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced the club signed Chris Tierney to a one-year, two-way contract. The 29-year-old spent last season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Charlotte Checkers and NHL with the Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens. He will now reunite with former San Jose teammate Timo Meier

- On July 11, The Anaheim Ducks announced they had named Brent Thompson as assistant coach. He is the father of Devils' prospect Tyce Thomspon who will be competing for a roster spot in training camp.

- Former Devils coach Rick Kowalsky was introduced as the head coach of the Bridgeport Islanders on Thursday. He previously spent 15 seasons with the Devils organization, including three years as an assistant coach with the NHL club and eight years as head coach of their AHL affiliates in Albany and Binghamton.

- The Pittsburgh Penguins continue their busy offseason by signing former Devil Ty Smith to a one-year contract worth $775,000. The defenseman was traded to Pittsburgh on July 16, 2022, along with a 2023 third-round pick for John Marino.

- Jack Hughes shared some highlights from his summer in a recent Instagram post that included several NHLers, including Matty Beniers, Trevor Zegras, Ty Smith, and Cole Caufield.

Inside the Locker Room

Brendan Fitzgerald on Andy Greene: "Andy Greene was also my favorite player (besides Patrik Elias). I love Andy Greene. It's actually funny (because), away from hockey, we have a pretty good amount in common. He's the youngest of four, wasn't drafted, and he'd say he was undersized. He's my idol. I've always looked up to him."

Isaac Poulter on his relationship with Nico Daws last season: "We had a really good relationship. We were actually roommates last year at development camp and rookie camp, so we got to know each other pretty well. He brought me over for dinner quite a few times and took me out for lunch. It was a great relationship with him, and he really helped me out with my game as well."

Josh Filmon on what he's most looking to improve upon: "Well, I'd say the thing that everybody's kind of knocked on me for, for the last six years, has just been my size. I've been working really hard this summer to just put on size and get stronger. ...Since the end of my junior season, (I) probably (gained) about 15 or 16 pounds."

Xavier Parent on the Utica Comets coaching staff: "They're really good. When you need to talk to them, their doors are always open. They do a lot of videos with us (both) individually and as a team, so it's pretty nice to learn from them. And (Dineen) is a guy who knows a lot of hockey, and he played in the NHL, so it's always nice to get a lot of information from him."
