Former New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero has passed away at the age of 62. The news was announced by the Minnesota Wild's Public Relations department.
Shero was general manager of the Devils from 2015 to 2020. During that time period, he made several big moves, including drafting stars Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt. He also brought in other former notable Devils like Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri, and P.K. Subban during his time with the organization.
Before joining the Devils organization, Shero worked as an assistant general manager for the Ottawa Senators (1993 to 1998) and Nashville Predators (1998 to 2006). From there, he was general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2006 to 2014, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2009.
Shero spent the last four seasons with the Wild as Senior Advisor to the GM.
