The New Jersey Devils picked up an impressive 4-0 win against the New York Rangers on April 6. With this, the Devils have improved to a 41-29-7 record on the season and have won each of their last three games.
Devils captain Nico Hischier undoubtedly played a significant role in the win, as he recorded an assist on each of the team's first two goals of the game. In addition, he scored the empty-netter for the Devils to put the game out of reach for the Rangers.
This was only the latest strong game for Hischier, as he has been playing some excellent hockey down the stretch. The 2017 first-overall pick has now extended his point streak to three games, where he has five goals and seven points over that span. In addition, he has nine goals and 17 points in his previous 12 contests.
When looking at Hischier's recent numbers, it is quite apparent that the star forward is really feeling it right now. It is coming at a great time of the season, too, as the playoffs are right around the corner for the Devils. Thus, it would be big if Hischier stays confident once the post-season is here.
Former Devils Forward Struggling With New Team
At the 2025 NHL trade deadline, former <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/new-jersey-devils">New Jersey Devils</a> forward Fabian Zetterlund was traded to the Ottawa Senators by the San Jose Sharks. The move was certainly surprising, as the former <a href="https://news.google.com/publications/CAAqLQgKIidDQklTRndnTWFoTUtFWFJvWldodlkydGxlVzVsZDNNdVkyOXRLQUFQAQ/sections/CAQqEAgAKgcICjCvqtILMO7F6QMwpeDfCA?hl=en-CA&gl=CA&ceid=CA:en">Devil </a>was not necessarily creating much chatter in the rumor mill leading up to it and was a key forward in San Jose's lineup.
With his hot stretch of play, Hischier now has 35 goals, 31 assists, 66 points, and a plus-14 rating in 71 games for the Devils this season. Overall, it has been another strong year for the eight-year veteran, and it will be intriguing to see how he builds on it from here.
