The New Jersey Devils have had a solid off-season so far, but it is clear that they still could use another top-six winger before the 2025-26 campaign is here. According to a recent report, they had an intriguing one on their radar earlier this off-season.

According to Seattle Hockey Insider's Rob Simpson, the Devils expressed interest in Jared McCann, but the Seattle Kraken told them that the skilled forward was not available for trade.

When looking at the Devils' current roster, it is entirely understandable why they made a push for McCann. He would have given them a clear answer for their first line left wing spot, which is in clear need of an upgrade. Furthermore, due to his high offensive skill, he could have made some real magic for the Devils playing with two stars in Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt.

However, based on this report from Simpson, the possibility of McCann going to New Jersey any time soon can be forgotten. As a result, if the Devils hope to improve their top six, they will need to consider their options elsewhere.

In 82 games this past season with the Kraken, McCann recorded 22 goals, 39 assists, 61 points, and a plus-8 rating.
