It was looking like the Flyers would be Cayden Primeau's third shutout of the season, but Owen Tippett was able to put them on the board in the last minute of play, ending an aggravating night of the Flyers' shots just barely missing the back of the net. It was the last thing the orange and black would have wanted against the Canadiens (who sit last in the Atlantic Division), but, as with any game, there was plenty of things to be learned.
One of the brighter spots of the game was how well the Tippett-Frost-Konecny line performed. Tippett scored the Flyers' only goal of the night, while Morgan Frost was grinding away the entire night to create some offense in what looked to be a pretty tired Flyers side.
This line has been consistently solid, with head coach John Tortorella stating simply that they're "good together."
Who would've thought that there would so much animosity between the Flyers and Canadiens?
There was plenty to go around, as several scrums broke out, and, on Friday, the league announced that the Flyers' Garnet Hathaway would be fined $2,000 for embellishment. It was also announced that the Canadiens' Kaiden Guhle would have a hearing to address a slash from the bench he made on Travis Konecny that went uncalled by the officials.
Right now, it can feel like the weight of the world is on the shoulders of the Flyers right now, but their playoff hopes are still very much alive, although a loss makes things a bit more difficult going forward. They still face the "easiest" schedule out of their biggest competitors, and will be boosted by the recent arrival of goalie Ivan Fedotov, along with having a fire lit under them to leave this loss in the dust as they move through their final games of the regular season.
