The Flyers have traded defenseman Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche for a first-round pick and Ryan Johansen, who was placed on waivers.
Walker's name was featured prominently on trade lists as the deadline inched closer, with speculation over whether the Flyers would opt to keep him or defense partner Nick Seeler, or even both.
Reports are coming out that the Flyers also received center Ryan Johansen in the deal, and he is expected to be placed on waivers immediately.
It was reported that, out of the pair's contract extension discussions, Walker's was progressing better than Seeler's, with the main disagreement between the player and the organization being how many years his extension would be.
This could be the first of many deals that GM Danny Briere makes before Friday's deadline.
