The Philadelphia Flyers have made a second trade during the 2024 NHL Draft, giving the Edmonton Oilers their No. 32 pick in exchange for a first-round pick in either 2025 or 2026.
This marks the second trade the Flyers have made in the first round of this year's draft, having already traded their No. 12 pick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for the Wild's No. 13 pick and a third-round selection in 2025.
The conditions of this deal are that Edmonton will convey its 2025 first-round pick to the Flyers unless it is in the the top 12. If it doesn't, the pick will wait until 2026.
There is some speculation that Flyers GM Danny Briere could be gearing up to make a trade for a roster player in the near future, acquiring draft assets and buying out forward Cam Atkinson to give the Flyers room and leverage to use in a deal.
Fans have expressed distaste for Briere's decision to trade both of the Flyers' first round picks.
