Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Sam Ersson has won a bronze model with Team Sweden at the Men's World Championships on Sunday.

The Swedes beat Canada 4-2 in only the second meeting of the two nations (Sweden also won in their first matchup in 1999).

The 24-year-old made four appearances in the tournament—his first with the senior Swedish team—coming away victorious in his three starts against Kazakhstan, Germany, and France, but letting in two goals in a substitution appearance against Czechia.

This marks Sweden's first medal since winning gold back in 2018.

Ersson is coming off a whirlwind season for the Flyers, playing 51 games after unexpectedly becoming Philadelphia's starting goalie near the second half of the season.

Flyers head coach John Tortorella repeatedly touched on how he "put [Ersson] in a hell of a spot" by playing him in over double the games they originally had him scheduled for, but now that World's has concluded, Ersson plans on getting some much-needed rest.

"I haven't really had that much time to kind of structure up to summer," Ersson said during the Flyers' exit interviews in April. "I'll probably head [back to Sweden] in a little bit and probably get back [to Philadelphia] at maybe the end of August, something like that, [and] do what I normally do to prepare for the season."
