During the off-season, former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Anthony Stolarz signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was after the 30-year-old goalie posted a 16-7-2 record, a .925 save percentage (SV%), and a 2.03 goals-against average (GAA) in 27 games with the Florida Panthers this past season.

After a strong season with the reigning Stanley Cup champs, Stolarz has found early success with the Maple Leafs. While he has a 2-2-0 record in four appearances, his 1.79 GAA and.937 SV% effectively demonstrate how strong he has played. He has also not allowed more than two goals in any of his four starts. With this, he is clearly doing his job in Toronto.

Goaltending has created plenty of questions for the Maple Leafs in recent years. However, if the former Flyer keeps playing like this, he will undoubtedly create more stability in the position for Toronto.

Stolarz is a goaltender the Flyers know well, as the Metropolitan Division club drafted him as the 45th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In 19 games with the Flyers over two seasons, he had a 6-4-4 record, a .911 SV%, and a 2.86 GAA.

It will be fascinating to see how Stolarz builds off his hot start in Toronto from here. Given the Flyers' goaltending issues right now, he is a former player they certainly have used today.
