Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier has switched the agent representing him, Frank Seravalli reported on Monday.

Couturier will now be represented by Pat Brisson of CAA Sports, who also represents Couturier's teammates Nick Seeler, Erik Johnson, and Cam York. 

Although no official reason was given as to why the Flyers' captain changed agents, but several hiccups during Couturier's season could have driven him to want to change the message he's sending. 

The most notable of these hurdles is, of course, getting healthy scratched in the midst of the Flyers' playoff push this past season, a situation that led to plenty of drama and speculation surrounding Couturier's relationship with head coach John Tortorella. 

While both Couturier and Tortorella maintain that the incident is behind them and that their relationship should not be a concern, Couturier's now-former agent Erik Lupien did go on record to criticize Tortorella's decision.

"Sean won't learn anything by being in the bleachers," Lupien said. "He's not a second-year pro that went through a cold streak. Sean is a leader and the captain of [the Flyers], so by putting him in the bleachers, for a player, he's going to be ashamed to be there. If there's no communication why between the two, in 2024, from my perspective, it isn't always good to coach and establish regimental fear."

Couturier signed an eight-year, $62 million contract back in 2021, and was named the Flyers' captain in February of this year.
