Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports - Former Flyers Coach Fired By Kraken

Former Philadelphia Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol has been fired by the Seattle Kraken after three seasons, the Kraken announced on Monday.

Hakstol served as the Kraken's first ever head coach, appearing in one playoff series during the 2022-23 season, and finishing with a 107-112-27 record across 246 games coached in Seattle.

Kraken GM Ron Francis thanked Hakstol for his contributions to the young franchise, and specified that the search for the team's new head coach will begin "immediately."

"I thank Dave for his hard work and dedication to the Kraken franchise," he said in a statement. "Following our end-of-the-season review, we have decided to make a change at our head coach position. These decisions are never easy, but we feel that this is a necessary step to help ensure our team continues to improve and evolve. Dave is a good coach and a terrific person. We wish him and his family all the best."

Hakstol spent three full seasons with the Flyers, beginning in the 2015-16 season, but was relieved of his coaching duties partway through the 2018-19 season. He left Philadelphia with a 134-101-42 record over 277 games, appearing in the playoffs twice but exiting in the first round each time.
