Shortly after the surprise arrival of Russian goalie Ivan Fedotov, the Philadelphia Flyers' Belarusian goalie prospect Alexei Kolosov arrived in Vorhees, New Jersey near midnight on Sunday, according to a report by The Fourth Period's Anthony Di Marco.
Kolosov's arrival was imminent after his former club, the KHL's Dinamo Minsk, announced on Mar. 26 that the goaltender was officially departing the club to begin his career in the Flyers' system.
The 22-year-old, who stands six-foot-one and weighs in at 185 lbs., finished the 2023-24 season with a .907 SV% and 2.39 GAA over 47 games played. His overall career in the KHL boasts a .909 SV% and 2.59 GAA in 132 games.
It is believed that Kolosov will start out his career in the U.S. playing in the AHL for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, seeing as the Flyers added Fedotov to their NHL roster following his own arrival in Vorhees just two days ago, loaning now-former backup goalie Felix Sandstrom back out to the Phantoms.
Speaking to the media on Thursday before the Flyers' Mar. 28 game against the Montreal Canadiens, general manager Danny Briere explained that, at the time, he couldn't provide exact updates on when Kolosov would arrive in the U.S.
"We're dealing with a lot of immigration stuff, so that's why we don't have an exact timeline," he said. "It's always tough to get him in the right places, the right visa. Our people are working on it. It just seems it gets pushed out and pushed out. We were hoping he'd be here by now. I think soon, I just don't have an exact day for him."
Briere also noted that Kolosov would "probably start with the Phantoms at this point."
It's also worth noting that, as far as we know...no, Matvei Michkov was not in any of Kolosov's suitcases.
