

According to NHL.com's Bill Meltzer, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Massimo Rizzo had surgery a few weeks ago to remove his appendix. In addition, Meltzer noted that Rizzo's expected recovery time is six to eight weeks after the surgery.
Rizzo, 23, is set to play his first professional season after an excellent collegiate career with the University of Denver. In 107 games with the school over three seasons, the 5-foot-11 forward had 49 goals and 126 points. He also won two national championships with the school.
Rizzo had 10 goals and 44 points in 30 games for the University of Denver this past season.
