Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton spoke in-depth about the closeness of the team's locker room, praising teammates, coaches, and the front office alike for building such a strong sense of family over the course of last season.

Appearing on the Morning Cuppa Hockey podcast, Laughton revealed that the entire Flyers team has bought into the culture that the organization is creating during this rebuild.

"Older guys are getting it, younger guys are getting it," he said. "Everyone's on the same page, and I think guys really appreciate that."

Laughton also emphasized how crucial the leadership of GM Danny Briere, President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones, and CEO Dan Hilferty has been to effectively rebuild the team—not just on the ice, but extending to the locker room and the team's relationship with fans.

"Bringing in Danny and Jonesy and Dan Hilferty has been huge for the organization," he stated. "The way they connect with the fans, just everything around the rink."

He even drew a comparison to the late Ed Snider, the legendary founder and former chairman of the Flyers who was famous for his dedicated personal involvement with the team and surrounding community.

"You don't have that very often," Laughton said of the front office's relationship to the team. "[Briere, Jones, and Hilferty] are coming into the room and shaking your hand after every game. That's what Mr. Snider used to do, and they do it. That really feels like a family."

He also gave some lighthearted insight into how the players—particularly the younger ones—interact with head coach John Tortorella, especially when it comes to the slang they use and the way they talk to each other.

"Yeah, I think just on a day-to-day basis, some of the stuff the younger guys say, or the older guys say, Torts will just kind of walk by and tell you to shut the f— up, something like that," Laughton laughed. "[It's] just funny; you're always laughing about it."

And, unsurprisingly, Laughton's fellow alternate captain Travis Konecny has a talent for playfully needling his head coach.

"You have those interactions throughout the year—TK is pretty good at stirring him up," he revealed. "We had one clip in Tampa this year, it was the cup ceremony in Tampa when Torts was the coach there, and TK was giving him some jabs about that. It's been really good."
