John Tortorella wants the Farg rocking.

Philadelphia fans are a notoriously tough crowd to play against. Historically, Flyers fans have been no different.
In the Broad Street Bullies era, the fear of coming to the City of Brotherly Love was so real that inspired its own phenomenon—"the Philly Flu"—in which an opposing player would conveniently come down with some sort of ailment right before an away game in Philadelphia. A big part of that, obviously, was due to how intimidating the Bullies team was. But the home crowd certainly helped, and current head coach John Tortorella wants to get back to that.
"I think, surrounding our team, there's a better attitude towards us," he said. "That goes pretty quickly by the wayside when you lose a game, but that's just the way fans are. I want to get us to a place—and we're not there yet—where it's a tough building to come in and play at."
He acknowledged that there's still work to be done in bringing back the full force crowds at the Wells Fargo Center, but he's confident that the Flyers are well on their way to bringing back a loud and proud audience for home games.
"I think that's one of the things we haven't totally grabbed a hold of this year in our development is home ice," he admitted. "I think sometimes it's harder to play on home ice than on the road. I want us the building to be that way. I sense it, you can feel it, but I want that to be a given. I want people to be talking like, 'Oh, that's a tough building to play at.' The fans are a big part of that. I think we're on the right rails to get that, but we've still got ways to go."
The Flyers are 15-13-2 so far at home this season.
