The Flyers continue to exceeded expectations during the rebuild while utilizing their younger players. Last week, Bobby Brink was recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to play for the Flyers again. Brink had back-to-back goals in his first game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Washington Capitals.

Although Brink scored the opening goals in both games, it also came with an excellent old-fashioned yelling from John Tortorella during the Capitals game. Brink let up a crucial turnover, which resulted in Washington scoring.

While the winger was benched for the final frame of the Capitals game, he was back on the ice during the Ottawa Senators game. Usually, when it comes to Tortorella's coaching style, players who make unnecessary mistakes can look to see a healthy scratch, like Cam Atkinson. Tortorella playing Brink despite the error he deployed in Washington shows that the development of the younger players is a priority.

Another young player who is on fire lately is Tyson Foerster. With 57 games under his belt this year, Foerster has tallied up 28 points with 16 goals and 12 assists. Seven out of the 16 goals have been power-play goals, which Philadelphia is notorious for struggling with the extra man advantage. Foerster helped break an NHL franchise record after a successful penalty shot in the Ottawa game. The Flyers now lead the NHL in five-for-five penalty shots this season.

Flyers GM Danny Briere and President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones keep reassuring that the Flyers are still in a rebuild. With the upcoming trade deadline approaching this week, many eyes were drawn to Nick Seeler's status. John Tortorella said, "We're not looking to trade Seels." This comes after another outstanding defensive performance from Seeler. In the past 20 games, Seeler has combined from 70 blocked shots.
