Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is one of the greatest players in NHL history, and he is showing zero signs of slowing down at 37 years old. The 2005 first-overall pick is still a dominant player at this stage of his career, and his stats this season effectively demonstrate that. The veteran center posted 33 goals and 91 points in 80 games this season.
Due to his outstanding play, Crosby has the potential to hit some incredible stats next season. Let's discuss them.
Crosby certainly has a good shot of recording his 1,100th career NHL assist next season if he stays healthy. The Penguins star currently sits at 1,062 career assists, so he only needs to record 38 more to get No. 1,100.
Crosby reaching 1,100 career assists would be a massive accomplishment. Only seven players have hit this milestone in NHL history, so Crosby would join some legendary company.
Crosby is also incredibly close to reaching his 1,700 career NHL point. He is just 13 points away from hitting his 1,700th career point, as he currently has 1,687. This is extremely impressive, especially when noting that he has only played 1,352 career NHL games.
Only eight NHL players have recorded 1,700 career points, so this would be another major milestone for Crosby to get. If he stays healthy in 2025-26, he should reach this stat early on in the campaign.
A major reason for Crosby's immense NHL success has been his incredible consistency. Due to this, Crosby has the opportunity to record his 21st consecutive point-per-game season in 2025-26. This is just ridiculous and shows just how amazing of a hockey player Crosby has been throughout his career.
With Crosby continuing to be a fantastic player, he certainly has a real shot of being a point-per-game player for the 21st year in a row. It will be fascinating to see if he can do just that from here. Keep in mind, he already set an NHL record this season with his 20th straight point-per-game campaign.
