PITTSBURGH – The saga surrounding the Pittsburgh Penguins and a stolen shipment of Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads won’t soon be forgotten, and a reference to the story ended up in an unexpected place. NFL schedule release day provides an excellent opportunity for teams to throw jabs at their upcoming opponents, and the Penguins found themselves caught in the crossfire.

The Los Angeles Chargers once again stole the show for schedule release videos, this time using Sims-line animation to troll every team and city they’ll be facing. In Week 3, the Chargers will visit Pittsburgh, and they made sure there were more than just shots fired at the Steelers.

In a shot re-creating George Pickens being drafted, a box in the background says “bobbleheads.” The box’s flap is covering another word, but if you look closely, it says “Jagr’s.”

The Penguins eventually recovered the bobbleheads and distributed them to fans, so this joke is all in good fun, but an incredibly smart jab by the Chargers.

When the Penguins announced that their shipment had been stolen, it was reported that the last known location was in California. Perhaps the Chargers knew of the situation thanks to being in the vicinity of the theft.
