Nottingham Panthers Retire Adam Johnson's Number

The former Pittsburgh Penguins prospect will be remembered forever with the Nottingham Panthers.

We’re slowly approaching a month since former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Adam Johnson died following an incident during a game in the United Kingdom’s EIHL.

Playing with the Nottingham Panthers, the former Penguins player lost his life after taking an opponent’s skate blade to the neck.

Following the tragic loss, games in the league were postponed, teams and leagues across the world honored Johnson, and the conversation of neck protection became a hot topic around the sport of hockey.

The Panthers recent got back on the ice and honored Johnson one last time by retiring his jersey number 47.

Prior to puck drop of the Adam Johnson Memorial game between the Panthers and the Manchester Storm, the Panthers announced the decision to retired his number.

Before, during, and after the game there were multiple moments to honor and remember the life of Johnson, who was just 29-years-old.

During the 47^th minute, both teams stopped play for a thunderous applause from the crowd; players, coaches, and officials also clapped and stick tapped in honor of Johnson.

During his brief stint in the NHL, Johnson played 13 games with the Penguins and scored his only career goal in his home state of Minnesota.
