The Pittsburgh Penguins will have representation in the first-ever NHL vs KHL game of this kind.

PITTSBURGH – In a one-of-a-kind event for Russian hockey, Pittsburgh Penguins star center Evgeni Malkin will play in an all-Russian NHL vs. KHL contest. While those kinds of games have happened before, this one has no affiliation with either league.

In a charity game put together by Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers and Mikhail Sergachev of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the top Russian players from both leagues will meet on July 20 in Moscow.

Malkin will play alongside rivals like Panarin, Alex Ovechkin, and Andrei Svechnikov up against a team of KHL stars. Former NHLers Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexander Radulov highlight the KHL side.

According to the contest’s website, most of the proceeds will go to charities organized by the players.

An initial teaser was made regarding this game a few weeks ago, and Malkin posted the image on social media. Full rosters confirmed Malkin's participation in the event.
