One of the greatest Pittsburgh Penguins of all time has been given another prestigious honor.

PITTSBURGH – It’s been a year to remember for Pittsburgh Penguins legend Jaromir Jagr. After a jersey retirement ceremony followed by a saga of stolen bobbleheads in his likeness, Jagr is being recognized for his work on the ice as one of the greatest hockey players of all time.

While the IIHF World Championship is being held in Jagr’s native Czechia, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame for the class of 2024.

Before kicking off the bronze and gold medal games, the IIHF officially inducted Jagr and seven other international hockey icons.

Jagr’s play in the NHL was unforgettable, but so was his international career. With 10 medals to his name, including a gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics, Jagr is one of the most decorated players in IIHF history.

In 2005, Jagr became a member of hockey’s Triple Gold Club with a World Championship gold medal. Reaching the Triple Gold Club is rare, as a player must win gold medals in the Olympics, the World Championship, and a Stanley Cup championship.

At the age of 52, Jagr is still playing at a high level in Czechia and officially passed Gordie Howe as the oldest player in professional hockey history. Whenever he decides to hang up the skates for good, there is no doubt the Hockey Hall of Fame will be making a call.
